The Story Begins Here...

They say everything comes full circle…. And it’s been 10 years since these two guys were last in a band together only now in a much more relaxed, mature yet still rocking setting. Leigh Gilbert and Chris Berard are Naked Radio.

After twenty years of shredding everything from his Charvel, a 7 string Ibanez or bluesing it up on his Les Paul you can find Gilbert riffing and bending strings today only now it’s mostly acoustic. Growing up in the 80’s Leigh’s loyalties are with bands like Motley Crue and Ozzy he also has been known to venture into heavier territory with Biohazard and Pantera. But it was Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Paige that first inspired him to really focus on the six string.

Over the past twenty years he has done it all from studio, to live music, from metal to rapcore having played drums as well as bass and guitar for the Blackstone Valley Crew which toured the east coast and had recordings that sold well over seas. It was Gilbert’s self-titled 3 song EP that really warmed him up to the acoustic side of music.

It’s been 15 years now you could say that local vocal talent Chris Berard has been making people tap their feet clap their hands and sing along. As he has been performing and singing locally throughout New England just that long. Don’t be fooled by Berard’s punk rock roots with influences such as Say Anything, Death Cab For Cutie, as well as Pennywise and No-FX need not cast any limitation or stereotype on his vocal abilities. Chris started singing so young that he had no clear influence, which enabled him to develop his own unique style. Chris has a great respect for Freddy Mercury and has been said to sound like Billie Joe from Green Day. Having spent most of his most of his youth fronting Punk Pop bands across RI, prior to serving our country in 2000 Berard returned still committed to music.

So there you have it and after 10 years since having played together Gilbert and Berard find themselves both a little older, and more mature yet still childhood rock stars at heart. Combining the warm rich vocals of Berard, alongside the innovative and creativity of Gilbert’s guitar playing simply makes their variety of song selections ranging from classic Beatles & Van Morrison to their own versions of Alicia Keys and Lady Ga Ga pleasing and enjoyable to listen to in any environment.

Whether sitting down, standing up, or playing on the bar you can be sure to find people singing along drinking and having fun as these two strip down today, yesterdays and yesteryears chart topping radio hits. We highly encourage you to come out and you’ll find Berard and Gilbert are as advertised…. They are Naked Radio…
